A combination of several pieces of bluestone that I still had on the fort (in my studio) and a small remnant of travertine. I didn't want to make it too polished this time, a little rough.
Atlas, the bearer, is a figure from Greek mythology. According to legend, Atlas carries the celestial vault on his shoulders as punishment. While making this sculpture, this was not so much my point of view, but I did get a strong association with carrying a load. But, not to be weighed down by it. The balance (helped a bit by a pin) keeps it a bit playful.
This sculptutre is very well suited for outdoors.
